Taking a look at the Kyocera KM-2530 printer reveals a quite capable multi-function office machine that can print, copy or fax with relative ease. It also comes in at an attractive price, which will be quite highly appreciated considering the nature of today’s economy, which is demanding cost savings wherever possible. This particular printer by Kyocera is able to put out 25 pages per minute of nice-looking product. It is capable of handling up to 1,000 sheets in storage, which is hardly ever seen in a model positioned in this particular segment and price range. Though it looks to be designed more for the small office, it can be equipped to handle much larger networked workgroups, if needed.

As far as print resolution goes, it’s fairly standard at 600 x 600 dots per inch, though that is nothing to complain about. For sure, most anything emerging from the Kyocera printer cartridge is going to be clear and sharp looking. The KM-2530 is so capable, in fact, that it could be used as a regular copier if needed.

Be warned, though, as this machine is no lightweight, coming in at about 174 pounds. Fortunately, it’s made to be placed on a roller cart, though moving it around is still going to be a bit of a chore. However, for all of the capabilities that the KM-2530 returns, it will be worth the small bit of effort needed to keep it wherever it’s needed.

The printer comes ready to go with 32 MB of RAM, which can be upgraded to 160 MB in standard configuration. This kind of memory capacity means that there should be little problem with the machine handling any sort of print job that the typical department may need carried out. It also has the ability to connect to a personal computer, which can come in handy for those who want to use it directly from the source.

The Kyocera can also handle most of the common paper sizes, including legal and letter, as well as a number of different media types that include transparencies and labels as well as envelopes. There is an optional duplexing capability that can be added for those who need such functionality. Additionally, you can print from text, photos and text with photos.

The machine is a network ready installation of an optional print/scan controller. There are a wide variety of options that can be added to this particular Kyocera, which will of course add to the final bottom-line price, but it may be worth it in the long run. When outfitted as such, it becomes an outstanding departmental copier in its own right.

The Kyocera KM-2530 printer comes with standard parallel and serial port interfaces as well as a number of different Ethernet input ports. It can also utilize most standard Windows or Mac OS operating systems, giving it a very nice versatility. Add in that it’s attractively priced and there is little to find to dislike about this particular printer.
