Two important items will lead to your website’s success on search engines: first is your ranking and second is your traffic. Why does traffic matter? It is a measurement of how many people are visiting your website, which will become the source of your profits in the long run, if you know how to convert your traffic into sales.

These five tips to build traffic will work for you.

Give your visitors a reason to return. It’s always easier to retain a previous reader than to attract the attention of people who’ve never visited your site before. To encourage them to repeat their visits, let them add their e-mail addresses to an update or newsletter list. Incorporating RSS feeds for your websites is another method of keeping readers constantly updated.

Submit your website to DMOZ and Yahoo. The first one is a directory while the other is a search engine and directory. Regardless of the distinction, both of them feed results to other smaller directories and meta search engines. Getting indexed in DMOZ and Yahoo means getting traffic not only from their websites but also from other ones that are associated with them.

Draft compelling content. The foundation of your website is the content it delivers. Write articles that are attractive and interesting. If people browsing the web discover articles they really enjoy, they’ll be more likely to link to your page. Interested readers will also be repeat visitors.

Get featured. Find directories and other websites what will list your website. Read through their terms. Conforming your website to their conditions will ensure your listing will end up on the first page or in another well-noticed place.

Leave comments on blogs. Search the Internet for the most often updated blogs on the web and leave some sort of response or comment. If it’s well-written and relevant, readers will be likely to visit your website out of curiosity.
